The Reggia di Caserta is an impressive and majestic 18th-century palace found in the southern Italian region of Campania. Designed by renowned architect Luigi Vanvitelli, it was built for Charles VII of Naples (Charles III of Spain) between 1752 and 1759. Spread across over two million cubic metres and covering over 47,000 m2, this magnificent building is the largest royal residence ever constructed in Europe and has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. With 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases, 1,026 fireplaces and a grand garden overflowing with fountains and cascades, a visit to this former royal home is nothing less than a dream come true!
