The Kolugljufur canyon is said to be named after the female troll Kola. According to legend the canyon was shaped by Kola’s daily activities, as she lived in this canyon. There’s a river running through the canyon, coming from the Kolufossar waterfall at the beginning of the gorge. The canyon is about 1 to 2 kilometers long and tens of meters deep. The views over this canyon are absolutely exceptional.
