💦 Sigöldufoss Waterfall

🗺️ How to Get There:
Located just off F208 After passing the Sigalda Power Station, look for a small side road to the left, there’s a gravel parking area and a short path to the waterfall viewpoint.

📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
Mostly accessible in summer (mid-June to mid-September). Water flow remains strong throughout the season due to controlled glacial outflow from the power station.

📸 Photography Tips:

Best time of day:
Midday to afternoon for even light on the full face of the waterfall. Golden hour can work with side lighting from the west.

Recommended gear:
Wide-angle lens for full waterfall view. Telephoto for focusing on the blue water and texture of the rock face. Drone optional, but take care, restricted zones may apply due to the proximity to energy infrastructure.

Composition ideas:

  • Shoot from the side trail for a full frontal view of the wide, arcing flow

  • Frame with foreground moss or lava rock for scale and texture

  • Use long exposure for silky flow or freeze motion for power
