To visit it is to go back millennia, to a time when Rome ruled the world. It is an incredible city that amazed me with its vastness and the extraordinary structures it houses. Jerash is known for the best preserved Roman ruins in the world: the Pompeii of Italy in short. I must admit that for being the second most visited site in Jordan, there were very few people.

However, entry is included in the Jordan Pass.

HOURS: The Jerash archaeological site is open daily from 8 am until 6:30 pm in summer; until 4 pm in winter. During Ramadan it closes at 3:30 pm.

Inside the site of there is only one restaurant/bar, near the entrance. There are no other dining options once you pass the main gate. The sun is fierce and the dust is a lot. The site is very large, but also very tiring.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! Groups of boys offer to take pictures of tourists, then demand a small ransom.

🇮🇹 Visitarla è tornare indietro di millenni, in un’epoca in cui Roma dominava il mondo. Una città incredibile, che mi ha stupito per la sua vastità e per le strutture straordinarie che ospita. Jerash è conosciuta per le rovine romane meglio conservate al mondo: la Pompei d'Italia insomma. Devo ammettere che per essere il secondo sito più visitato della Giordania, c’era davvero pochissima gente.

• Orario: il sito archeologico di Jerash è aperto tutti i giorni dalle 8 fino alle 18.30 in estate; fino alle 16 in inverno. Durante il Ramadan chiude alle 15.30.

All’interno del sito di si trova un solo ristorante / bar, vicino all’entrata. Non ci sono altri punti di ristoro una volta passata la porta principale. Il sole è feroce e la polvere è tantissima. Il sito è molto grande, ma anche molto stancante.

ATTENZIONE ALLE TRUFFE! Gruppi di ragazzi si offrono di fare foto ai turisti, per poi chiedere un piccolo riscatto.
