Mosaics and churches aside, the reason everyone comes to Mount Nebo is this: the terrace over the Promised Land. One can distinguish the dark valley where the Jordan flows and the northern part of the Dead Sea. On the side of the terrace, sits a large bronze statue: a stylized cross in the shape of a serpent that echoes Jesus' words “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up.”

🇮🇹 Mosaici e chiese a parte, il motivo per il quale tutti vengono sul Monte Nebo è questo: la terrazza sulla Terra Promessa. Si distingue la valle scura dove scorre il Giordano e la parte nord del Mar Morto. Sul lato della terrazza, è sita una grande statua di bronzo: una croce stilizzata a forma di serpente che richiama le parole di Gesù “E come Mosè innalzò il serpente nel deserto, così bisogna sia innalzato il Figlio dell’uomo”.
