Lower Kalimna Falls is one of the most unique waterfalls in Victoria as you are able to walk behind the falls as it cascades into a large pool below. The 7km return trail passes by the picturesque Sheoak Creek and is relatively flat; however, it can be quite muddy in wetter months.
How to get there:
Located in Great Otway National Park. access the walk to the waterfall from the car park at Sheoak Picnic Area (unsealed). There are picnic tables, shelters, gas BBQs and toilets here. It's a 2.5 hour drive from Melbourne and a 10 minute drive from Lorne.
Elise's Tips:
If you're visiting in the cooler months I'd recommend wearing hiking boots as the trail is very muddy (leave your white shoes at home). If you're visiting in the Summer months this place is a great place for a swim or shower under the falling water (bring your bathers just in case).
