Get ready for a stunning reward at Rawson Lake, a true gem in Kananaskis. Your adventure starts with a pleasant walk along the shore of the beautiful Upper Kananaskis Lake, passing a picturesque waterfall. Then, the trail turns into the forest for a steady, and at times steep, climb that will get your heart pumping. Just when you need it, the forest opens up to the breathtaking sight of Rawson Lake, a pristine alpine lake nestled beneath the towering Mount Sarrail. The entire hike is about 8 kilometers round trip and should take you around 3 to 4 hours.
Arrive early as the parking fills quickly. You will need a Kananaskis Conservation pass to park. Can continue on to Sarrail Ridge but the trail is very steep and up an avalanche chute. Use your best judgment and bring poles for the descent if you decide to continue on to Sarrail Ridge.
