Get ready for a truly rewarding journey to Glacier Lake, the fourth-largest lake in Banff National Park. The trail, an 18-kilometer round trip, is a fantastic introduction to the backcountry, leading you through pine forests to the stunning turquoise waters of the lake, with the impressive Southeast Lyell Glacier as a backdrop. While it's a solid day hike, taking about 6 to 7 hours, you can also camp overnight to fully soak in the serene mountain scenery. The trailhead is easily accessible from the Icefields Parkway, but the hike itself will make you feel a world away.

A parks pass is required to visit here. Pack your own TP if you camp overnight.

Permits are required for overnight camping. You can get them at Parks Canada Reservations.

Sunset and sunrise are both worth staying up for.
