A world-renowned, challenging backcountry hiking trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park, offering spectacular scenery of turquoise lakes, waterfalls, and glaciers. It is best experienced as a multi-day backpacking trip.
I have stayed at 4/7 available campgrounds. Here are my thoughts:
Kinney Lake: easy to get to, perfect if you want to get some distance out of the way so you can start the next day immediately at the gain. Also great for a quick solo overnight.
Whitehorn: along a river at the suspension bridge. Sound of the river is incredibly peaceful at night. The campground loses sun early in the afternoon so it does get cold quickly and it does not get sun early. Plan accordingly. This is my recommendation for night 1, it’s essentially a halfway point.
Marmot: I stayed here on my final night (whitehorn berg marmot) during my 2025 trip. It’s quiet, at the start of the lake, and smaller. Easy access to some day hikes. Kind of annoying to get water from here because you have to go up and down a hill. Not fun in the dark, y’know. Would absolutely stay again.
Berg Lake: the crown jewel. I’ve never seen a more beautiful campsite. If you can get this, take it!! It does make for a long hike back so I recommend breaking it up unless you’re crazy like me and decide to do all the down in one go.
