Welcome to Maligne Lake, a true gem of the Canadian Rockies. You'll be captivated by the stunning turquoise water, a sight framed by majestic, snow-capped peaks. For an unforgettable experience, take the scenic boat cruise to the world-famous Spirit Island, a truly iconic and serene spot only accessible by water. If you're feeling more adventurous, there are numerous hiking trails ranging from gentle lakeside strolls to more challenging routes offering breathtaking panoramic views.

From the parking lot there's a variety of things you can do: you can hike Opal Hills (intermediate), Bald Hills (longer, steep), Moose Lake (short, easy) or continue along the side of the lake to find a better viewpoint, take a swim, have a picnic. You can also go to the boathouse and take a scenic cruise to Spirit Island or rent a canoe (availability varies). When I rent a canoe I typically prefer to use Pure Outdoors Jasper. They'll give you a key to unlock the canoe by the put in, paddles, a bail, life jackets, etc at their location in town and you'll need to return them back in the townsite. They offer multi day and day rentals.

The photos pictured are all photos taken within 2km of the parking lot.
