You'll be captivated by the sheer power and stunning turquoise color of the Kicking Horse River as it carves through the landscape. There are several fantastic viewpoints right off the highway, perfect for a quick stop to soak in the scenery. For a closer look, you can carefully make your way down to the riverbank from the parking areas, but be sure to wear sturdy shoes as the terrain can be rocky. It's a truly wild and beautiful piece of the Rockies.
There are many access points to the Kicking Horse River, I recommend around the town of Golden where you can find many camping areas nearby.
A lot of the Kicking Horse is surrounded by National Park or Crown Land. If on National Park land, make sure you have a Parks Pass with you.
There are opportunities to raft the kicking horse as well if that's something you're interested in! Linking it below.
