One of the coolest hikes with the best reward at the end, an amazing view of the surrounding area of Whitehorse through the mouth of the cave!
This is a very short hike, but it is pretty much straight up the entire time, so make sure to bring water and proper shoes!
There are lots of bears on Grey Mountain, so also make sure to bring your bear spray, and preferably hike with a friend or two! You will want to have a friend with you anyway to help take some cool cave photos at the end of the hike!
The cave is up on the side of the mountain, and you need to climb small metal rungs and a rope attached to the rock. If you're scared of heights, this may be pretty intimidating, but it is totally worth it! The scariest part for me is always coming down and dangling over the edge, trying to find that first rung with my foot! Just make sure you are holding onto the rope and you'll be totally fine!
There can often be a few groups doing this hike, so make sure to be respectful of others! If you're at the cave to take some photos and you see another group waiting for you, make sure to allow them to have a chance to climb up as well! I have seen people having a picnic and drinking wine in the cave, and we had to wait an hour for them to eventually leave. If you want to have food on the hike, that's cool, but honestly, it's way nicer to sit outside to eat, as the cave is quite cold and smells very damp! I usually stay up there for 10 minutes max, and then I'm ready to get out of there!
