Bennett Lake is a picturesque lake located in British Columbia and Yukon Territory. It played a significant role during the Klondike Gold Rush as a hub for gold-seekers heading to Dawson City. The lake is surrounded by historic sites like the abandoned town of Bennett and Carcross. With its stunning scenery and rich history, Bennett Lake is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
Eryn's Tips:
Bennett has a massive sandy beach, so it is perfect if you have kids and want to head out on a nice beach day!
We will often park at the lake in the warmer months and walk down the beach towards the mountain views (away from the bridge). The lake is often shallow during the early summer months for about a kilometre out, so there is plenty of beach to walk on! Mosley loves running around and playing in the water, and it is great exercise to go and walk along the sand for several kilometres.
If you walk all the way right to the mouth of the river, there is a little camping area up on the bluff with a fire pit. A nice spot to spend a beautiful afternoon (just check current fire regulations at the time!).
