Mount Monolith is a 7,103-foot mountain located in Tombstone Territorial Park. It's the sixth-highest peak in the Ogilvie Mountains. The summit offers stunning views and is surrounded by rugged terrain, with the nearest town being Dawson, about 1.5 hours away. Despite its remote location, Mount Monolith attracts outdoor enthusiasts looking for adventure in the subarctic climate of the region.

Eryn's Tips:

  • The hike to Mount Monolith viewpoint is 5km round-trip and is a great way to experience the Tombstone backcountry without having to get permits and camp!

  • This is a well-marked trail, but outside of cell service with rocky terrain, so come prepared with necessary safety gear.

  • This is an amazing hike in the summer and in early fall when the colours are changing! I have hiked this portion of the trail multiple times, and every single time I am absolutely blown away by how beautiful it is!

  • As this trail is very popular, make sure you stay on the trail and reduce your impact while there! If you have a furry friend, they need to be on a leash for this hike!

  • If you are only in Tombstone for a day, I would HIGHLY recommend doing this hike!! The views are amazing!! Check out my photography tips post in this guide to ensure you get the best photos!!
