The Midnight Dome in Dawson City is a popular spot for sightseeing and celebrating the long summer nights. The geology of the area is unique due to the Tintina Trench fault line, with gold placer gravels to the south and hardrock deposits to the north. Today, the Dome remains a cool spot to take in the views and soak up the history.
Eryn's Tips:
This is a super-easy drive-to photo spot that has INSANE views! In the summer, it's best to come up in the evening for golden light. Dawson City is far enough north that the sun doesn't set during the summer months, so the Dome has amazing views all night long.
We also will often drive up to have a picnic with a view! There is lots of parking and you will often see people backing up, putting down their tailgates, setting up camp chairs and enjoying a meal with the backdrop of Dawson and the surrounding area.
There are also hiking trails, mountain biking trails, and paragliding from the Dome, so keep your eyes peeled for anyone flying through the sky below!
