The Hike

Description

Get ready for a rewarding challenge with the hike up Schober, a local favorite that offers some of the most stunning panoramic views in the Salzkammergut region. The trail is a proper mountain hike, starting from the parking lot near Fuschl am See and taking you on a steep and, at times, exposed path which is partially fixed with ropes and steps to help you near the summit. Along the way, you'll pass the ruins of Wartenfels castle before the final push to the top. From the summit cross, you'll be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree vista of the turquoise lakes Fuschlsee, Mondsee and Wolfgangsee. The entire circular route, including the neighboring Frauenkopf peak, takes about 3 hours.

• Recommended parking lot

• You will not coma across a water fountain on the entire hiking trail. So, take plenty of water with you.

• There are also no huts along the way, so I would recommend taking enough snacks to enjoy the views at the top of the mountain.

• Good footwear is also essential.
