Just a few minutes by car from Lake Millstatt, the Sternenbalkon offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in Carinthia. On claer days, you can even spot Großglockner, austria's highest peak, proudly rising in the distance - not bad for a quick drive from the lakeshore. If you feel like stretching your legs, there is also a short hike (about one hour) starting right from the balcony area. Or, for a more relaxed experience, you can order a picnic basket from the nearby inn and simply enjoy the moment - mountains in front, lake below, snacks in the hand.

The first time I came here, it was autumn - the season of fog in austria. Down by the lake, everything was wrapped up in thick mist, but up there, the sun was shining bright. Standing above the clouds, surrounded by mountain peaks and golden light, felt like escaping to another world.

• Drive from the Millstättersee towards the Gasthof Bergfried, where you will also find a small parink area right next to the balcony. The road is well paved and signposted - and the last few minutes of the drive already hint at the amazing view waiting at the top.
