🌳 Himley Hall & Park – Big Green Spaces, History & a Brilliant Playground
With 180 acres to explore, a proper adventure playground, a lake full of ducks, even a stream and waterfall and obviously an ice cream van on standby, Himley Hall & Park is a go-to spot for an easy, feel-good family day out.
🏰 A Bit of History
The 18th-century hall has some serious old-school charm; it used to host royalty back in the day! These days it’s used for weddings, exhibitions and events, but you can still wander the grounds and soak up the fancy vibes.
🛝 Woodland Play Area
The play area here is so good. There’s a massive wooden tower with a spiral slide, seesaws, zip wire, carousels, and a rocking horse or two. It’s all set in the trees, so it feels like a forest playground. There’s even a little toddler-friendly frame, so everyone’s covered.
🌊 Lake, Stream & Waterfall Wanders
Behind the hall there’s a pretty stream and little waterfall which is perfect for a slow wander or a bit of exploring, mine even paddle in the stream there too. The lake is great for duck-spotting and sometimes you’ll see people fishing or sailing too.
☕ Café & Ice Cream Stop
The on-site café is open daily from 9:30–4 and does all the good stuff; coffees, lunches, cakes. And of course, there’s an ice cream van nearby because they just know the hot spots to pull up at don't they 😂
From car shows to antique fairs, there’s always something going on at Himley; worth checking ahead to see what’s on while you’re there.
Location: Himley, Dudley, DY3 4DF
Opening Times: Park open daily from 7:30am to dusk
Parking: Pay & display on-site (£4 all day i think)
Dogs: Welcome—just keep them on a lead where appropriate
What to wear: The playground has bark chippings across the whole floor and there's a path to get there that's entirely tarmac if you really want to avoid any off roading. Otherwise the floor is mainly just grass so you're fine in trainers but obviously if it's been raining then it'll be wet 😅
Whether you’re chasing ducks, letting the kids loose in the playground, or just in it for the walk and the waffle cone, Himley Hall & Park is one of those places that keeps everyone happy.
