The Gotthard Pass, located in the Swiss Alps between the cantons of Ticino and Uri, is a popular mountain pass for both road and railway travel. It traverses through the Saint-Gotthard Massif, connecting northern Switzerland to southern Switzerland. The stunning scenery of the Gotthard area attracted adventurers since antiquity, but has become even more extraordinary with the two longest tunnels ever built in human history: Gotthard Rail Tunnel (1882) and Gotthard Road Tunnel (1980), as well as the world’s highest railway line at Lago della Piazza. Travelers crossing the Gotthard Pass can marvel at the majestic peaks of the Lepontine Alps reaching the sky or take a visit to the Saint Gotthard Chapel built in 1230. Get ready to be awe-inspired as you drive or take a train passing through some of the most beautiful mountains in Europe.

FYI: the pass is closed usually from October until June due to the snow situation.
