Leglerhütte SAC is a great destination for any mountain hiker looking to experience the best of Swiss Alpine scenery. Situated at 2273 meters, the hut boasts gorgeous views of Braunwald and Europe's oldest game reserve, Freiberg Kärpf. Witness and explore the nearby animal watching, pretty mountain lakes, geological sites like Kärpfbrücke, with its 50 m long natural rock tunnel, and a climbing area with routes of all difficulties available. Leglerhütte SAC is well suited for both families and groups and is an ideal starting point for snowshoe hikes in winter. HIKE DETAILS:

Start: Bergstation Luftseilbahn Kies- Mettmen. You will need to ride the cable car up to start the hike. The hike is about 11,8 km long and can be completed in 5 hours or so. Elevation change will be approximately 870 meters.

It is a loop trail so you will finish the hike where you started.

If you are lucky you can also spot wild animals just like chamois or deers.

Tip: there are fire pits along the banks of the reservoir at the beginning of the hike. In case you fancy a picnic.

Tip2 : do not forget to check out Ängelisee lake on the way back.
