Monte Lema is situated between Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore and has an elevation of 1,624 metres. On clear days, hikers can experience stunning views of the Bernese and Valais Alps. Visitors can enjoy activities such as trekking, biking, or stargazing at the observatory. The hike I did was Monte Lema toward Monte to Monte Tamaro. It is a beautiful ridge hike at the border of Switzerland with fantastic views in every direction.
HIKE DETAILS:
START: Monte Lema cable car station. Take the cable car up to Monte Lema where you start your ridge hike. You should only purchase a one way ticket if you plant to do this ridge hike since your destination will be Alpe Foppa cable car station. .
The ridge will take you towards Monte Tamaro (1962 meter).
The hike is 14 km long with 900 meters of elevation gain, It should take between 4-5 hours to complete the hike.
Once you are in Alpe Foppa you can take the cable car down.
