The Tay Bridge disaster was a major train wreck that happened in Scotland back in 1879. Basically, during a crazy storm, the bridge collapsed while a train was crossing it, resulting in everyone on board meeting a tragic end. The whole thing was a mess, with faulty design and maintenance being blamed for the disaster. It was a real tragedy that shook up the railway world at the time.
