Weather: It's common for Hilo to be more cloudy in the afternoon, so the earlier you arrive the better. We love arriving around 8/9 am when the sun hits the waterfall at the perfect moment and creates a rainbow effect.
Pack a day bag: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, flip flops, swimsuit, towel, bug spray, umbrella for unexpected rain or sun protection, and a light jacket/windbreaker if the weather changes.
What to wear: No preferences.
What to bring: Plenty of water and snacks or pick up lunch to go, as there are few places to stop.
Bathrooms: Bathrooms available at the view point.
Parking: Limited parking spots. Make sure to hide your valuables and lock you car.
Photography: Cameras are allowed for non-commercial work.
