The Saskatchewan River Crossing is located at the junction of Highway 93 (Icefields Parkway) and Highway 11 (David Thompson Highway). This spot marks the joining of the North Saskatchewan, Howse, and Mistaya Rivers . In the 19th century, it was aptly named "The Crossing" as fur traders and explorers used this natural fording point on their westward journeys through the Rockies.

Today, it serves as a crucial rest area between Lake Louise and Jasper, offering the only services—gas station, restaurant, and lodging—along this stretch of the parkway . It's an ideal spot to refuel, grab a bite, and take in the surrounding vistas. For an outdoor adventure, it's a gateway to several notable hikes and natural attractions. Trails leading to Mistaya Canyon, Parker Ridge, and Bow Glacier Falls are all within a short drive.

NOTE: We recommend fueling before entering icefields parkway at Lake Louise and at Jasper as its more expensive here - same with food and snacks!
