Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park is a must see lake in the Canadian Rockies, known for its vibrant turquoise waters that reflect the surrounding President Mountain Range.

You can enjoy leisurely hikes along the shoreline, rent a canoe (for about 80 dollars), and maybe even spot wildlife like bears, eagles, and moose. The lake's color comes from glacial melt depositing rock flour into the water, creating a mesmerizing display, especially on sunny days.

There’s a 5.2 km flat trail that loops around the lake, offering peaceful forested sections, open views of the water, and reflections of the surrounding mountains — including the towering Mount Burgess and Wapta Mountain. It’s an easy and relaxing walk suitable for all ages and a great way to take in the lake.

In winter, Emerald Lake turns into a quiet, snow-covered paradise, with opportunities for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing along the lakeshore.

The parking fills up really fast here since its so accessible and cars are parked on the sides of the road leading up to the lake so just be careful. When we went we couldn't even make it to the natural bridge so we turned back, had lunch and came back in the evening. There is a cute emerald lake lodge which has a cafe where you can purchase some snacks! There are picnic tables around too if you want to relax!
