Grjótagjá is a lava cave at Lake Mývatn, filled with a hot water. It used to be a secret bathing spot until the water got too hot in the '70s. You might recognise it from Game of Thrones.
🚗 Road: Paved / gravel
🅿️ Parking: Free

🚶Distance: 0

❄️ Winter: It depends on the amount of snow, the access road often closes.
📸 Photo tips: Nice location for long exposure photography
📝 Notes: In my opinion only worth visiting in late evening hours when there aren't people and if you're a photographer. Otherwise it is more of just a dark cave with a hot water inside (and swimming is not allowed + the water is too hot anyway)
