Through this tour, you will get to know the historical monuments that are an extremely valuable part of Sutjeska National Park. If you have come to the Tjentište, then it is inevitable that you visit the Memorial Complex of the Battle of the Sutjeska which is seen from the main road. This complex is built in memory of one of the most difficult and bloodiest battles of World War II in which Partisan forces engaged against joint German-Italian and quisling troops in this area.

After lunch, there will be a stop at the park’s most precious jewel. Never fully explored and the largest natural reserve of its kind in Europe, Perućica Primeval Forest proves to be a real challenge for all botanists as it has been inaccessible for decades. The Beškita and Dragoš Sedlo viewpoints are around 10 kilometers away from Tjentište. A fantastic view of Perućica Primeval Forest and the Valley of Heroes in Tjentište spreads out in front of us among several plateaus connected by a path. The vantage grounds are located at an altitude of about 1.300 meters. We can also see Skakavac Waterfall from here, beautifully formed from the mountain creek in the Perućica Rainforest. It is one of the highest waterfalls in the country at about 75 meters. On the other side of this hill-encircled valley, the rocky cliffs of Volujak suddenly rise: on the left, the highest peak of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maglić, and on the right, the peaks of Zelengora can be seen in the distance across Sutjeska Canyon.

After visiting the viewpoints in the Perućica rainforest, we continue towards Prijevor. In Prijevor, we’ll also find some of the oldest elements of the material and spiritual culture of this region. Three Katuns are available for accommodation during the summer months. From the Prijevor, Maglić looks impressive. Maglić Mountain, the magnificent giant, is full of steep and rugged cliffs. Even in summer months, it is interspersed with snow that never melts. The trailhead here from Prijevor is also the shortest route to the Maglić summit, directly up its scenic northwest face. From Prijevor, it’s a challenging mountain hike to the highest summit of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Around 7 pm, before returning, we will catch the last rays of the sun on Prijevor.
