This is the most classic local Sarajevo hike – on the weekend, even the city boys put on their hiking shoes and make their way to Jure Franko. There are multiple way to get to the mountain cottage, some more steep, others more moderate. Depending on which one you choose, it will take you between 1.5 and 2.5 hours to get there. I mostly take the one over Dobre Vode up and then the other route down.

Jure Franko is open the whole year, volunteers from all over the world work there and prepare food for the hikers – mostly soup, bean stew and other typical Bosnian dishes. It's a very chill atmosphere up there and you'll meet proper hikers, city people, families and people with their dogs, all mingling and having a good time.
