Black Hill Trail in Morro Bay State Park is a popular 2.5-mile out-and-back hike with moderate difficulty. The trail takes about 1 hour and 22 minutes to complete on average and offers beautiful views along the way. Hikers can enjoy the scenic Fleming's Forest, filled with Monterey Pine trees, as they make their way to the top of Black Hill. Keep an eye out for wildlife and be prepared for some poison oak along the trail. Overall, it's a great spot for birding, hiking, and running, and dogs are welcome on a leash.

Pet-friendly: Yes, but must be kept on leash

Soft adventure: More of a medium to moderate adventure due to incline

Seasonality: All seasons

Fee: Free
