This is probably the most classic “you made it to Banff” photo — and honestly, it’s still worth it.

The Banff sign sits right in front of the train station, with Mount Norquay perfectly lined up in the background. It’s an easy, quick stop, but one of those shots people always end up keeping.

It’s popular, so don’t expect to have it to yourself — but if you go a bit earlier or later in the day, it’s way more relaxed.

What most people don’t realize is that this is also one of the best places to park. The Banff Train Station lot is a really solid option if you’re planning to walk into town. From here, it’s an easy stroll along Banff Avenue straight into the main area.

So instead of circling for parking downtown, stop here, grab your photo, and then just walk in. Way less stress — and you get a nice first impression of Banff on the way.
