Diamond Beach is one of Iceland’s most well-known stops, which means it’s very popular and often crowded, especially midday. Ice chunks from nearby Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash up on the black sand here, creating what looks like diamonds on the beach.

The beach is easy to access with a short walk from the parking area. Just like other beaches in Iceland, conditions can change quickly, so keep a safe distance from the water and watch for sneaker waves.

Timing makes a huge difference here! We visited later in the evening and had almost the entire beach to ourselves, while earlier in the day it was packed with tour buses and people. If you want photos without crowds, aim for early morning or evening and be flexible, the ice changes constantly, so no two visits ever look the same.
