Sigöldugljúfur is a beautiful canyon known as the "Valley of Tears" because of how many waterfalls there are! You reach it by a rough gravel highland road, so a high-clearance 4x4 is necessary! A short walk from the parking area gives the best viewpoints! Give yourself about 30 to 60 minutes for the visit, and bring bug repellent and a hat because there are a lot of midges here (they're harmless, but can be very annoying!!)

If you do not have a high clearance 4x4, we did notice some people parking after the bridge, which is right before the road turns to gravel, and walking to Sigöldugljúfur. Keep in mind that it's quite a walk, but definitely possible!
