Kerið Crater is a volcanic crater along the Golden Circle known for its red rock slopes and bright blue lake at the bottom. It’s a quick stop that doesn’t require much effort, which makes it easy to add to a busy sightseeing day.

There is a small entrance fee to visit Kerið, and from the parking area you can either walk around the rim for views from above or take the short path down to the lake itself. Both options are easy and well maintained, though the path can be slippery in wet or icy conditions.

There are restrooms here as well as a food truck with local Icelandic food :) We would recommend visiting in the early morning to avoid tour buses and crowds, we arrived at 9:30am and it was already starting to get busy!
