Dyrhólaey Lighthouse is one of the easiest puffin spots to reach from the Ring Road, which makes it a great stop if you’re short on time. We were here at around 10pm in mid-July and saw hundreds of puffins on the cliffs, easily one of our favorite wildlife moments in Iceland!

Most of the puffins we saw were on the right-hand side of the lighthouse on the cliffs, where you can watch them nesting in the grass and flying in from the ocean below.

Puffins are typically in Iceland from May to August, with June and July being peak months for sightings. It’s an especially cool place to just stand and watch them!
