Landeyjahöfn is the main ferry port for reaching the Westman Islands from Iceland’s south coast. The ferry ride takes about 40 minutes and runs year-round, making it a convenient way to add the islands to your itinerary.
You can board as a foot passenger and explore Vestmannaeyjabær on foot, or reserve space to bring your vehicle across for more flexibility on the island. The ferry does not stop at the smaller surrounding islands, but you’ll get incredible views of the coastline and sea stacks along the way.
While advance booking isn’t always required, it’s highly recommended during busy periods, especially in early August when the island hosts its annual music festival, and sailings can fill up quickly. Be sure to arrive at the terminal at least 30 minutes before departure!!
