Brúarhlöð is a small canyon along the Hvítá River, located near the Golden Circle. While most people head straight to Gullfoss and Geysir, this is a hidden gem that’s definitely worth pulling over for.

The canyon is carved into dark volcanic rock, with narrow cliffs and beautiful turquoise glacial water below. The river here is strong, so this is only a viewpoint, not a place to swim.

There’s a small parking area and a short, easy walk to the edge of the canyon. The trail is uneven and can be muddy after rain, so good shoes help. It’s a quick stop, but the contrast between the blue water and the dark rock formations makes it one of the more underrated spots near the Golden Circle.

For parking type "Brúarhlöð Car Park" into your GPS! :)
