Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge is a narrow, moss-covered gorge on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and it's definitely one of Iceland's hidden gems. It’s a short 5–10 minute walk from the parking area to the gorge entrance, and from there you can walk directly into the canyon.

Inside, the gorge gets tight and damp, with a small stream running through it. You can hop from stone to stone to avoid getting your feet wet, but waterproof shoes and clothing are a good idea since the water is mostly impossible to avoid. The canyon is especially lush in summer, which is also the best time to visit, in winter, ice can make it very slippery and difficult to explore safely.

There’s also a local legend tied to Rauðfeldsgjá, which adds a bit of folklore to the experience, but even without that, it’s a quick, fun stop if you’re already exploring the area!

Here is the trail :)
