Skólavörðustígur, often called Reykjavik’s Rainbow Road, is one of the city’s most colorful and recognizable photo spots. The painted street leads straight up to Hallgrímskirkja, which makes it an easy and fun place to grab photos while exploring downtown on foot.

The best shots are taken from the bottom of the street looking uphill, with the rainbow colors leading your eye toward the church. Early morning is ideal if you want fewer people in your photos, but even during the day it’s a lively, upbeat stop surrounded by cafés, shops, and bars. It’s a quick visit, but a great way to capture Reykjavik’s personality.
