Highland Base at Kerlingarfjöll is the main place to stop when exploring Kerlingarfjöll, and honestly, it’s a lot nicer than you might expect for a highlands base! It’s one of the only spots up here with real facilities, which makes it a very practical stop.

There’s lodging, a restaurant, restrooms, and geothermal baths on site. Access is seasonal, in summer you can drive in on highland roads (need a 4x4), and in winter it’s only reachable by super jeep or transfer.
