Sun Voyager is a popular photo spot along Reykjavik’s waterfront. The metal sculpture sits right by the ocean and is easy to reach on foot while exploring the city. Many people think it’s a Viking ship, but it’s actually meant to represent a dream boat and the promise of undiscovered territory and a dream of hope, progress and freedom.

The best time for photos is early morning or around sunset, when the light is softer and the water behind it is calm. On clear days, you can see Mount Esja across the bay, which makes a nice background. It’s a quick stop and works well as part of a walk along the harbor.
