If you want to stay right in the middle of Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, this is the only campground, so definitely make a reservation.

We were a little too last minute and couldn’t get a spot, so we ended up staying at Glentanner Holiday Park instead, which was a great backup and still really good. But if I did it again, I would 100% try harder to stay here.

You’re literally right under the mountains with views of glaciers all around, and some of the best hikes start right from camp. It just feels way more immersive being in it like that.

It’s popular, but still feels peaceful because everything around you is so massive. And at night, the stars are unreal.
