This spot on Lake Hāwea felt like such a hidden gem. You can literally park right on the beach, set up for the day, and just hang by the water with the mountains all around you. It’s simple, quiet, and really beautiful.

It’s more of a low-key setup, big grassy areas, some shade from the trees, and direct access to the lake for swimming or just letting the kids run around. There are a few walking trails nearby too if you want to explore a bit. We got here early afternoon and spent the whole day here.

There are basic toilets on site, but not much else, so come prepared. And definitely bring bug spray, the sandflies can be pretty intense here, especially in the evening.
