The Te Anau Bird Sanctuary ended up being such a good, easy stop. It’s right by the lake and just a really nice place to hang out for a bit. There are birds you can walk around and see (which the kids loved), but what I didn’t expect was how much space there is to just relax. Lots of rolling grass, room for the kids to run around, and even a little play kitchen area that kept them busy way longer than I thought it would.

It’s super low-key, not a big production at all, but that’s kind of what makes it great. Just an easy, pretty place to spend an hour or two.
