The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, standing in front of his ruined temple in Luxor, Egypt. These statues have been around since 1350 BC and were a big hit with ancient Greeks, Romans, and modern travelers. They're made of quartzite stone, weigh a whopping 720 tons each, and reach a towering height of 60 feet. Legend has it that the northern statue used to "sing" at dawn after an earthquake in 27 BCE, attracting curious visitors from far and wide.
