You'll stay in very simple accommodation, eat home-cooked Fijian meals, have refreshing cold showers and get involved in local activities.

Electricity and internet connection are limited or nonexistent, so plan for basic facilities and bring a flashlight, power bank and bug spray.

Dress modestly by covering your shoulders, chest and knees. I wore a t-shirt with bike shorts, then a sulu (sarong). Do NOT wear resort clothes (bikinis, mini skirts, singlet/tank tops)

Remove shoes inside, ask before photographing people and be ready to join cultural activities like a kava ceremony or village tour to get the most from the experience.

Depending on which village you stay at (this one is Navai, home of the tallest peak in Fiji), there might be cooking classes, horse riding, mountain climbing, snorkelling, river/sea/waterfall swimming etc.
