It is the most iconic symbol of ancient Rome and can seat up to 50-80,000 people at a time. Throughout its history, it has been used for a variety of purposes such as gladiatorial contests, public spectacles, animal hunts, mock naval battles, executions, and re-enactments of famous battles.
