3-Day Fall Foliage Cycling Loop in Québec’s Eastern Townships
We set out for a three-day, two-night loop through the Eastern Townships at the height of the fall colors, packing as light as possible and bringing only the essentials—some food from home, a few supplies, and our cycling maps for Montérégie and Estrie. Our plan was simple: enjoy the scenery, make plenty of stops, and never push past 100 km of riding per day.
Day 1 – Montréal → Canal de Chambly → Farnham
We left Montréal and followed the peaceful Canal de Chambly path, a classic route lined with calm water and vibrant fall foliage. The ride was relaxed and gave us time to ease into the trip. By evening, we reached Farnham and checked in at Le Pigneonnier motel for our first night’s rest.
Day 2 – Farnham → La Montérégiade → Brigham & Knowlton → Lac Brome Loop → Parc national de la Yamaska
The next morning, we continued along La Montérégiade, enjoying smooth riding and crisp October air. Soon after, we ventured onto quieter gravel roads through Brigham and Knowlton, where rolling hills and colorful forests made the ride especially scenic. We added a loop around Lac Brome near Waterloo before making our way to Parc national de la Yamaska. We camped there for the night—peaceful, cool, and surrounded by nature at peak color.
Day 3 – Parc national de la Yamaska → La Route des Champs → Montréal
For our final stretch, we took La Route des Champs as the fastest path back toward Montréal. It wasn’t the most scenic segment of the trip, but it brought us home efficiently after two full days of exploration.
