The Yellowhead Highway east of Jasper is incredibly scenic and definitely worth a drive for the views. The wide Athabasca River is on one side, with mountains bordering the other.

There are various roadside parking areas next to the Athabasca River; this is just one of them. Stop to take in the extraordinary views of this huge river running next to the highway, backdropped by incredible snow-capped mountains.

A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Jasper National Park ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
