Often cited as one of the best road trips in the world, the Icefields Parkway is lined with towering mountains and immense glaciers, providing jaw-dropping vistas no matter where you look. This is the southern entrance of the Parkway.

Driving the 230km Icefields Parkway without stopping takes around 3 hours. Allow at least 6 to 7 hours for checking out roadside viewpoints and a couple of short walks (Peyto Lake, Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls, Mistaya Canyon). Add extra time if you plan to take any tours.

If hiking is your priority, plan to stay on the Icefields Parkway or drive it twice. Or get up very early!

A Parks Canada parks pass is required to drive the Icefields Parkway.
