North Thompson River Provincial Park campground is a good alternative to the campgrounds in Wells Gray Provincial Park. It is ideal for travellers heading west and looking to reduce the drive between the park and the Whistler area.

The campground is on the basic side with no showers but the river setting is quite lovely. There are 53 sites, most reservable three months in advance via the BC Parks website. From 2026, non-BC residents will be charged an additional $20 per stay, per camping group, at provincial campgrounds.
